VITAL PROTEINS
OKAY YA’LL lets talk about vital proteins. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about these products ever since I posted about them on instagram so I thought I would put all of my thoughts and the facts in one place for everyone to reference back to!
I first tried out vital proteins products about a year ago when I went to the Pop Sugar Playground event with Samantha. (I have a whole blog post on that event that I’ll link here if you’re interested!) We got a free sample of the unflavored collagen peptides at their booth. After trying the unflavored one I went onto the website and ordered myself a the big size! This time I opted for the strawberry lemon flavor which is DELICIOUS!
So a month or so ago when Vital Proteins emailed me wanting to send me some products I was UNBELIEVABLY EXCITED! A brand that I already use and love wanted to work with me?! AMAZING They sent me the unflavored collagen peptides and the coconut collagen creamers!
The collagen creamers come in a few different flavor options but I tried the coconut one and let me tell you, it’s so yummy and makes me feel like I’m on vacation somewhere tropical! I just add it to my morning coffee instead of my usual almond milk. The unflavored collagen peptides are super easy, I just pour one in my water bottle mix it up and I’m all set. It obviously is unflavored so it doesn’t taste like anything, duh.
So let’s brake this down. Why do we need collagen? What are the benefits? Is it worth it? Do you actually see results? Those are a bunch of questions I got in my direct messages so I’m here to answer everything!
First here are some facts about collagen. Collagen makes up our hair, skin, ligaments, tendons, nails, and joints. As we get older the natural collagen starts to break down and stops producing. This can lead to the aging process, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, firmness, and hydration. NO THANK YOU!
You can still use all those collagen boosting skin care products you love, I definitely still do, BUT ingesting collagen is a whole other level. It can be better than topical treatments because the molecules are too large for the skin to absorb. Digesting means it’s getting absorbed quicker for maximum benefits.
Vital Proteins in particular is a brand I trust because it is clean with only one ingredient. It is so incredibly important to look at ingredients when choosing products you’re ingesting because you don’t want any added garbage! Their products are sourced from grass fed, pasture raised bovine hide (bovine is like a cow, it’s okay I had to google it because I didn’t know what that was either) and with each serving you are getting 20g of collagen!
Is it worth it? Are you still asking this? YES! 100% in my opinion it’s totally worth it! I can definitely see and feel a difference when I’m using it verses when I’m not. I can see it in my skin definitely and I can see it in my hair! I already have really thick hair but I can tell it’s stronger and doesn’t break as easily.
